Most frequent questions and answers

Format of the conference
  • The conference will be held on-site at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Sukileliu ave. 13, Kaunas, LT-50166, Lithuania. 
  • All participants are required to attend the conference on-site. No exceptions apply for international participants.  
  • In case of illness or unplanned emergencies, the Organising committee must be informed immediately. 
Fees

For LSMU SMD members*, submission fee for the first abstract is 15 EUR, for non-members – 25 EUR.  

 

When submitting more than one abstract, a fee of 30 EUR is charged for each additional abstract (including LSMU SMD members).  

 

Passive participants who wish to receive a welcome pack and certificate of attendance must pay a 5 EUR fee.  

 

Additionally, both active and passive participants will be required to pay a 5 – 10 EUR fee per every workshop. Participation fees are non-refundable. 

 

 

*Those who have already paid the LSMU SMD fee for the 2023-2024 academic year.  

Sessions 

All participants have the right to select the session in which they would like to present their abstract. However, the abstract may be transferred to a different session should the topic be deemed more relevant by reviewers. The list of sessions is preliminary and may be subject to change after the abstract submission deadline.

If a session has less than 7 or more than 12 accepted abstracts, the IHSC for All 2024 Organising Committee reserves the right to move abstracts to a different session or combine sessions.

Participation in the conference

Active participants: 

Abstracts are only submitted by active participants. Abstracts must be uploaded to the IHSC for All 2024 website: submission.ihscforall.eu. Submission is open to university students who are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from any accredited higher education institution. One active participant can submit an unlimited number of abstracts in all topics. Each abstract must be submitted separately. Submission dates are as follows:  

 

 1st of December 2023 – 14th of January 2024, 23:59 EET 

 

No abstracts submitted outside these dates will be accepted. 

 

Passive participants: 

  • If you do not submit an abstract to IHSC for All 2024, you can still participate in the conference as a passive participant.  
  • Passive participants must pay a 5 EUR participation fee. Passive participants are eligible for a certificate of attendance and a welcome pack.  
  • Attendance of the conference is necessary in order to receive a certificate and a welcome pack. 
  • Tickets will be available from the 1st of February to the 14th of March 2024, 23:59 EET at http://tickets.ihscforall.eu 
  • Workshops are not included in the participation fee. See more information about workshop tickets in the Workshop section.  
  • Participation fees are non-refundable.

  1. g. if you are an active participant and would like to attend 1 workshop, you need to pay 15 EUR for active participation and 5 EUR for 1 workshop. If you are a passive participant and would like to attend 2 workshops, you need to pay 5 EUR for passive participation and 10 EUR for 2 workshops.

*Despite the number of abstracts submitted, only one welcome pack belongs to each presenter. 

Workshops
  • In order to attend workshops, all participants must pay a 0-10 EUR fee per workshop.  
  • Tickets to each workshop are sold separately. Tickets will be available from the 8th to the 18th of March 2024, 23:59 EET at tickets.ihscforall.eu It is possible to attend a workshop without being registered as an active or passive participant.  
  • Certificates for attending workshops are issued. 
  • Participation fees are non-refundable, unless the workshop is cancelled by the Organising Committee.

  • Oral presentations and posters must be uploaded to the online MS Forms which is sent by the Organising committee between the 12th  and 18th of March 2024, 23:59 EET 
  • CONFERENCE: 25th – 26th of March 2024, 23:59 EET 
  • Certificates – until 14th of April 2024, 23:59 EET. Abstract book – until April 16th 23:59 EET.

Payment instructions

Payments are accepted only through submission system. We do not accept bank transfers or other payment methods. 

Certificates and Abstract book
  • All certificates will be issued in online PDF format. 
  • All certificates and Abstract book will be issued by the 14th of April 2024. 
  • On-site attendance of the conference is necessary in order to receive a certificate and a welcome pack.  
  • Certificates are issued only to active and passive participants. Certificates for attending workshops are issued. 
Abstract requirements

Terms for registering and accepting abstracts:   

  1. Abstracts must be written in English.   
  2. Abstracts can be submitted for oral or poster presentation. Authors are asked for their preference. However, the final decision on presentation type will be made by IHSC for All 2024 reviewers.   
  3. Abstracts should not exceed 3000 characters. References are not included in character limitations. 
  4. Abstracts can be submitted only by bachelor’s or master’s degree students. However, we strongly advise all participants to conduct research with more experienced researchers.  
  5. Abstracts must include authors and their affiliations (affiliation details: department, institution / hospital, city, state (if applicable), country).  
  6. Abstracts must include the following parts:  

6.1. Introduction – key information to introduce the background of your research and illustrate its scientific problem;   

6.2. Aim – a short description of research objectives;   

6.3. Methods – a description of methods and materials used in the research, including type of study and statistical methods;   

6.4. Results – a description of the obtained results;   

6.5. Conclusions – a summary of your research and answers to the objectives. Try to avoid phrases such as “scientific research is in progress”, “the results and conclusions will be presented at the conference”;   

6.6. References – a list of literature sources which were used during your study. Sources for the abstract must not be older than 10 years.  Citations should be written in Vancouver Citation Style. 

6.7. The primary review will be carried out by two independent experts. Based on their decision abstracts may be:   

– Accepted     

– Rejected    

– Conditionally accepted (modifications and secondary review required)  

6.8. Each author will be asked to read and sign the statement of authorship as well as declare there was no conflict of interest during the making of the abstract when submitting an abstract.    

6.9. Case reports and literature reviews are accepted at the conference. For more information see in “Case reports” section below. 

6.10. Bioethical permission – see more in “Bioethics” section below. 

6.11. Abstracts must not have been published in any format before submitting the abstract (e.g., the Abstract book).    

6.12. The approved abstract will be published without editing. For this reason, we advise you to make sure there are no mistakes left. The IHSC for All 2024 Organising Committee will not be responsible for any errors in the submitted abstracts.  

6.13.  In order to include a comparable number of abstracts in each session, the Organising Committee reserves the right to transfer an abstract to a different session.   

6.14. Only abstracts that comply with the terms and requirements will be published in the Abstract book. 

By uploading abstracts, participants agree to the Terms for registering and accepting abstracts. 

Literature reviews
  • Systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses are accepted in IHSC for All 2024.    
  • Meta-analysis is a quantitative, formal, epidemiological study design used to systematically assess previous research studies to derive conclusions about that body of research. (1) 
  • Systematic reviews retrieve, appraise and summarize all the available evidence on a specific health question. They are designed to reduce the effect of the reviewers’ own bias, and a full protocol should be written to define and guide the process. The appropriate resources should be in place before undertaking a review. (2) 
  • Used criteria must be reflected in the abstract’s methodology. Extensive guidelines for reporting can be found on https://www.equator-network.org/. 
Case report presentation requirements

Terms for presentation:

  • Case reports should follow the requirements specified in the  given template. 
  • The presentation should last not longer than 3 minutes, following 2 minutes for discussion.

  2. Case reports can be submitted only for oral presentation.  
  3. Case reports should not exceed 1500 characters. References are not included in character limitations. 
  4. Case reports can be submitted only by bachelor’s or master’s degree students. However, we strongly advise all participants to conduct research with more experienced researchers.  
  5. Case reports must include authors and their affiliations (affiliation details: department, institution / hospital, city, state (if applicable), country).  
  6. Case report must include the following parts: 

 6.1. Introduction – key information to introduce the background of your case report.   

6.2. Case presentation – history, physical exam, diagnostics, treatment/management, clinical course/outcome 

6.3. Discussion – epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment/management, prognosis/prevention 

6.4. Conclusions – a summary of your case report. 

6.5. References – a list of literature sources which were used in your abstract. Sources for the abstract must not be older than 10 years.  Citations should be written in Vancouver Citation Style.

Oral presentation requirements 

Oral presentations must comply with the requirements as described below:   

  • The presentations should be prepared in English.   
  • Presentations should be prepared using Microsoft Office PowerPoint. Presenters take full responsibility for file formats and the quality of the presentation.   
  • The oral presentation should last no longer than 5 minutes, followed by a 2-minute discussion and questions.   
  • Only one of the co-authors can be a presenter. The presenter must participate in the discussion after the presentation. Co-authors may also take part in the discussion.   
  • The presentation files should be sent to the session coordinator no later than 7 days before the beginning of the Conference.   
  • Authors will be asked to use the official IHSC for All 2024 presentation template for their presentation. The template will be sent with the reviewers’ final decision on the 12th of March 2024. 
  • If the provided template is not used, the Organising Committee reserves the right not to publish the abstract in the abstract book. 
  • Presentations will be evaluated by a professional Jury Committee during the conference. 
Poster presentation requirements

Posters must comply with the requirements as described below:   

  • All posters will be presented on-site during the Poster session.   
  • All posters will be printed on A1 format paper and will be presented on-site by one of the authors. Presentation must be conducted using the printed poster only. Microsoft Office PowerPoint slides cannot be used in the presentation.  
  • A poster is NOT equivalent to an abstract presentation. A poster should illustrate the main points of focus of the abstract using the provided official IHSC for All 2024 template.  
  • Posters should follow the requirements specified in the Abstract requirements and be presented using the given template. 
  • The presentation should last no longer than 5 minutes.   
  • Poster session schedule will be provided on the 12th of March 2024.    
  • Templates will be sent with the final reviewers’ decision on the 12th of March 2024.  
  • All posters will be printed by the Organising Committee on A1 format paper.  
  •  If the provided template is not used, the Organising Committee reserves the right not to publish the work in the abstract book. 
  • Posters and their presentations will be evaluated by a professional Jury Committee during the conference. 
Bioethics
  • We recommend all abstracts to have a permission issued by the biomedical research ethical committee. If an abstract does not have such permission, we require the authors to provide an explanation.  
  • Permission details must be provided in the submission system while submitting the abstract.  
  • All abstracts submitted without permission will be reviewed by biomedical research ethical experts to determine if the research needs approval.  
  • The organising committee reserves the right to reject an abstract if it is determined that research was conducted without necessary permissions.
